The aquatic sanctuary at Xel-Ha.Photo courtesy of IVI |
The Citadel at Tulum, perched atop limestone cliffs and overlooking the rugged turquoise coastline, was possibly the first Mayan structure sighted by the Spanish in the 16th century. Tulum, located 131 kilometers/78 miles south of Cancun, is Quintana Roo's most famous site.
The new Xel-Ha National Park, under new management, has improved in service and quality while maintaining its natural beauty. The aquatic sanctuary fed simultaneously by subterranean freshwater springs and Caribbean seawater is reserved for breeding countless species of colorful tropical fish and other marine life. Xel-Ha is located 122 kilometers/ 73miles south of Cancun.
