General Director of PEMEX Exploration and Production

Luis Ramírez Corzo y Hernández carried out his professional studies at the School of Engineering of the Universidad Autónoma de México, where in 1971 he obtained his degree with honors in Petroleum Engineering. In 1975 he received his Master of Sciences degree in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University.

His professional activities have been related to various business areas within the oil industry in the private sector. This is the main reason that in 2001 he was appointed General Director of PEMEX Exploration and Production. He has also directed several national and international organizations.

He has been advisor and/or partner of several companies in the energy sector from the U.S., Canada, and Europe, amongst which are Nova Corporation; Petrel; Daniel Industries, Inc.; Transcoastal Marine Services, Inc.; SEITEL, Inc.; and Cynara Corp. (Dupont), all of the U.S.; and Robertson, Ltd.; Canadian Hunter, Ltd.; Petrel/Fletcher, Ltd.; and Canpetro of Canada.

In his lengthy professional career, he has been professor in the School of Engineering at the graduate level of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He has developed several programs for the Development of High Direction Executives.

He has authored a wide number of business and technical publications related to petroleum policies and strategic studies for the Mexican oil industry.

As part of his guild activities, he was a member of the Honor Committee PEMEX-CIPM and attended the discussion at the House of Representatives of Mexico relative to the Cantarell Project and Nitrogen Injection Project. He was part of President Vicente Fox's transition team.

He has been distinguished with several awards during his professional life, one of the most important being the National Petroleum Engineering Award for 2000.

He is a member in good standing of the following professional associations: Asociación de Ingenieros Petroleros de México (AIPM), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and the Colegio de Ingenieros Petroleros de México (CIPM).
