The Field Trips program includes topics from the traditional production on the Golden Lane and Poza Rica Field to the Tertiary type localities and the modern sedimentary environments.

The transition between siliciclastic and carbonate modern sedimentary environments is the focus of an excellent field trip from the Grijalva Delta to west of the Yucatan Shelf. The tectonic influence on modern mixed clastic-carbonate deposition is also shown at the eastern part of the Yucatan Peninsula in a very particular tectonic setting.

The tectonic aspect of the petroleum exploration will also be covered: Salt tectonics in northeast Mexico and a strike slip fault system on the southeast end of the Northamerican Plate will be explored.

The influence of the Chicxulub impact on the Cantarell reservoir will be demonstrated.

Ancient Mexican cultures are another outstanding complementary objective included in several field trips. This is an important opportunity for explorationists interested in the Prehispanic history of Central America. The ancient cultures are a bonus: Totonaca, Olmeca and Maya are three main Prehispanic civilizations that participants will have the fabulous opportunity to see.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Field trips are limited in size.
