Who Should Attend

The course will have value to managers and geoscientists interested in knowing more about Mexican basins and exploration processes from regional geology to reservoir characterization.

Course Content

This broad-spectrum course covers recent advances on the petroleum exploration in oil and gas Mexican basins. The course consists of a series of lectures given by high-prestige managers and geoscientists from the different PEMEX E&P Assets. Specific topics include:

  • Overview on Petroleum Geology of Mexican Basins
  • Oil- and Gas-Producing Mexican Basins:
    • North Region: Burgos, Tampico-Misantla, Veracruz
    • South Region: Salina del Istmo, Comalcalco-Chiapas-Tabasco, Macuspana and Sierra de Chiapas
    • The Sonda de Campeche: deep-water frontiers in the Gulf of Mexico
    • The deep-water Gulf of Mexico
    • The exploratory risk analysis and evaluation process at PEMEX E&P
  • Main challenges and future trends
