We hope you will plan to join your fellow geoscientists on the island of Mallorca for an examination of the latest techniques for predicting carbonate reservoirs and their impact on current oil and gas exploration and production. Our conference theme puts the focus on predictive stratigraphic reference models of carbonate reservoirs and how they encourage integration of disciplines, techniques and methodologies. This will be a ‘workshop conference’ using a mix of small group discussion and workshop-style instruction formats, each session introduced by keynote oral presentations, thereafter adjourning to interactive poster presentations, all conveniently situated in the same large hall. There will also be numerous opportunities for interaction on a less formal basis. An optional post-conference trip to Mallorca and its sister island Menorca will provide an opportunity to examine up close classic Upper Miocene carbonate platform deposits and geometries. There is truly something on offer for everyone interested in ‘reference models’ that are predictive with respect to the stratigraphic architecture, including the geometries, primary facies distribution and diagenetic overprint, of relevant oil-bearing stratigraphic intervals in the Mesozoic and Tertiary of the region. We look forward to sharing thoughts, ideas and concepts with you 30 April–3 May. Mateu Esteban, General Chair
