This e-symposium is ideal for geologists, geophysicists, engineers, and support technicians who are involved in the evaluation of resource plays.
This esymposium takes a close look at workflows associated with resource plays, and analyzes where integration must occur between disciplines, data, and workflows at all phases of the process. Operational efficiency and effectiveness can be improved from surface seismic to stimulation.
Lockstep with increased North American and global shale gas activity over the last decade have been advances in technology and operational efficiency, primarily in completion and stimulation engineering. More recently there have also been advances in geological and geophysical characterization of these 'resource plays'. Currently, there is much interest in integrated geological, petrophysical, geomechanical and geophysical workflows for shale gas characterization, with different degrees of scientific sophistication evident among different operator and service companies.
In this esymposium, a case study is presented from an active shale gas play in the Triassic age Montney Formation, Western Canada, which integrates surface seismic amplitude and elastic property volumes with petrophysical data and micro-seismic monitoring results. The integration of reflection seismic data and appropriate attributes brings more geophysical rigor to a traditionally engineering dominated play type.
The following items are covered as they relate to workflows in resource plays:
The live portion will be followed by a full day of independent study (not a live event). The one-hour live e-symposium can be accessed from any computer anywhere in the world using a high-speed internet connection. After the event is over, you will receive via email information about accessing the asynchronous segment (not live) which consists of your independent study materials, to be accessed and studied at any time. You will be able to email responses to the readings, along with your study question answers for CEU credit (if you sign up for the extended package).
