This
training module introduces and reviews each of the major carbonate
depositional environments on the platform margin, slope, and basin.
Another module entitled "Platform-Interior Carbonate Depositional
Environments" introduces and reviews the major depositional environments
of the platform interior.
At the completion
of this module, the student will be able to
- understand
the physical, biological, and chemical processes that affect platform-margin,
slope, and basinal sedimentation;
- recognize
the major platform-margin, slope, and basinal environments of deposition;
and
- recognize
the rock types that are a product of platform-margin, slope, and
basinal carbonate depositional environments.
