Software Donated for IBA Use

There have been a number of companies who have donated software for use in the IBA competition. Please read through each of the company's requirements in order to take advantage of their contribution.

OpendTect

OpendTect is an open source, complete interpretation package that can be downloaded for free from http://www.opendtect.org . Advanced workflows are enabled in closed source plugins which are available for Universities at no cost. For obtaining the academic licenses, follow these instructions on http://www.dgbes.com/index.php/universities.html.

Paradigm

As part of the 2010 Paradigm Sponsorship for the AAPG Imperial Barrel Award, Paradigm offers universities free access to specific software products for a limited period of time. These products will provide IBA competing teams with the tools they need to achieve a complete technical assessment of the dataset hydrocarbon potential. In order to take advantage of this sponsorship, interested universities should fill out this application form and send it back to aapg-iba@pdgm.com. The Paradigm Academic Software Program is also available to universities willing to establish a longer term relationship with Paradigm at minimal cost. Software maintenance and technical support are included in the program. Universities can also apply to our University Grant Program. For additional information on these programs, please contact katherine.harington@pdgm.com.

Schlumberger

Schlumberger Petrel: Anyone interested in applying for a Schlumberger software grant should contact Najib Abusalbi (abusalbi@slb.com). The Schlumberger Worldwide University Software Program offers software developed by Schlumberger Information Solutions to select colleges and universities at minimal cost. If there is any third party embedded software within the Schlumberger applications you are interested in, we ask that the university be responsible for these costs (approximately $250 per license). The program provides three-year, renewable licenses, software maintenance, and technical support. Universities can use the software to instruct students as part of a course curriculum or conduct academic research. The software is not intended for commercial use by the university.
