What is not allowed in AAPG's discussion boards used by TIGs and SIGs?

Usage of the Technical Interest Groups (TIGs) and Special Interest Groups (SIGs) implies adhering to AAPG's rules of conduct. The following communications and content is prohibited:

  • Intimidating, hostile or offensive messages or material on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, age, religion, marital status, genetic information, veteran status, disability or other protected legal status;
  • Derogatory to any individual or group;
  • Obscene, sexually explicit or pornographic;
  • Defamatory or threatening;
  • In violation of any license governing the use of software;
  • “Junk mail” or other advertising material to individuals who did not specifically request such material; forwarding of “chain letters” or “pyramid” schemes of any type; posting of any non-Association related solicitations;
  • Unauthorized communication of trade secrets, breach of copyrights or any infringement on intellectual property;
  • Unauthorized communication of trade secrets is improper, illegal and prohibited;
  • Any purpose that is illegal or contrary to AAPG policy or business interest;
  • Making fraudulent offers of products, items, or services originating from any AAPG account;
  • Effecting security breaches or disruptions of network communication. Security breaches include, but are not limited to, accessing data of which the user is not an intended recipient or logging into a server or account that the user is not expressly authorized to access. For purposes of this section, "disruption" includes, but is not limited to, network sniffing, pinged floods, packet spoofing, denial of service, and forged routing information;
  • Port scanning or security scanning is expressly prohibited unless prior authorization by the AAPG IT department manager is provided;
  • Executing any form of network monitoring which will intercept data not intended for the employee's host, unless prior authorization by the AAPG IT department manager is provided;
  • Circumventing user authentication or security of any host, network or account;
  • Interfering with or denying service to any user other than the employee's host (for example, denial of service attack);
  • Using any program/script/command, or sending messages of any kind, with the intent to interfere with, or disable, a user's terminal session, via any means, locally or via the Internet/Intranet/Extranet;
  • Providing information about, or lists of, AAPG employees to parties outside AAPG;
  • Electronic media and services should not be used in a manner that is likely to cause network congestion or significantly hamper the ability of other people to access and use the system;
  • Hacking or obtaining access to systems or accounts without proper authorization.
  • Any other behavior not deemed as appropriate usage.
