Following the rescheduling of GEO and the announcement of our new conference theme: Geosciences in an Era of Transformation: A New Landscape, we are seeing a positive response from current presenters, as well as growing interest.
Just like many industries, the oil and gas industry is embracing machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) technology that is expected to fundamentally transform the way we quantitatively characterize and model subsurface reservoirs. Fascinating geoscience-related ML and AI technological innovations, including challenges and opportunities, will be presented and debated at the second edition of the Decision Based Integrated Reservoir Modeling GTW, to be held on 1-2 February 2021 in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
GEO Postponed. The GEO conference and exhibition, previously scheduled for 14 - 17 September in Bahrain, has been postponed until 4 - 7 October 2021.

It was announced that King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) team has won the 11th ME Region Imperial Barrel Award Competition – congratulations to the whole team and faculty advisor! We would also like to recognize Sultan Qaboos University and Lebanese University who were awarded 2nd and 3rd place. Well done teams!
We wish to inform you that the GEO 2020 conference and exhibition, previously scheduled for 16-19 March, has been postponed until the 14-17 September 2020.
AAPG’s Rift Basin Evolution and Exploration: The Global State of the Art and Applicability to the Middle East and Neighboring Regions GTW took place from 3-5 February 2020 at the InterContinental Regency Hotel in Bahrain. We welcomed 52 attendees from 19 different companies and 7 different countries.
After two successful editions, the AAPG Carbonate Reservoirs of the Middle East GTW came back the region for a third round. The event took place from 28-29 January 2020 at the Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa. The workshop attracted 94 attendees from 30 different companies and 10 different countries.
The second edition of AAPG’s Structural Styles of the Middle East GTW took place from 9-11 December 2019 at the Sundus Rotana Hotel in Muscat, Oman. The workshop attracted 87 attendees from 23 different companies and 11 different countries.
For the first time in its history, AAPG has hosted a Geosciences Technology Workshop (GTW) in Saudi Arabia. The Integrated Emerging Exploration Concepts workshop took place on 2-4 December 2019 at the Kempinski Al Othman Hotel in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. For the occasion, we received 47 attendees from 14 different companies and 9 different countries.
