Register Today for Decision Based Integrated Reservoir Modeling GTW

Published
American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)

Unlike many workshops with focus on new technologies for doing “this” or “that”, this workshop on Decision Based Integrated Modeling (DBM) is going to focus on “doing the right thing” for the “right reasons”. The outcome of DBM is expected to allow making better and more effective decisions faster, by focusing on key issues and building the proper models and workflows to address critical uncertainties without wasting valuable resources (“LEAN”).

Therefore this Geosciences Technology Workshop (GTW) will address the key issues on planning and implementing DBM successfully in six sequentially organized sessions:

  • What is DBM and Why Do We Need to Do it?
  • DBM Process Planning Event (I) — How to Conduct them?
  • DBM Process Planning Event (II) — Technical Workflows
  • Implementation
  • Case Studies
  • Close Out Session

It is the intent that participants leave this workshop with workable ideas about how to improve planning events within their own company; but also as an industry group, have a direction for future development that can be transported to other conferences, perhaps spawning a new focus area.  This 3-day workshop will be preceded by a 2-day field trip with focus on how to connect reservoir heterogeneity to DBM.

The success of this workshop will very much depend on the right participation and interactive attitude of its attendees. Only very few formal presentations will be given as keynote speeches in each section. Most of the sessions will be run through “short-burst” talks where selected registered attendees will be requested to showcase a couple of slides to initiate and facilitate discussion. The workshop will also offer short poster sessions. The standard template for 2-slide presentations and the posters will be provided to the attendees before the workshop.

The workshop will also feature an optional 2 day field trip which will focus on how to connect reservoir heterogeneity to decision based modeling.
