Held under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Bahrain His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the 12th Middle East Geosciences Conference & Exhibition (GEO 2016) concluded on 10 March having attracted a total of 3,784 attendees.
The biannual event, established 22 years ago, incorporated a 4-day high-level conference organised by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) and the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), and a parallel 3-day exhibition organised by Allworld Exhibition’s member Arabian Exhibition Management.
GEO 2016 was also supported by an organising committee of national oil companies, independent oil companies and regional geoscience societies. In 2016, the committee was chaired by Mubadala Petroleum’s Chief Executive Officer Musabbeh Al Kaabi.
The exhibition and conference were officially inaugurated by Bahrain’s Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, accompanied by Energy Minister His Excellency Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza.
Exhibition:
The world-class exhibition spanned 6,000 square metres of space at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre and showcased 120 companies from 20 countries.
Serving all areas of the oil & gas exploration industry, principal participants included national oil companies, international oil companies, suppliers, service providers and country pavilions from Egypt, North America and the UK.
