Developed in 1941, the Distinguished Lecturer Tour continues to be AAPG’s oldest and most prestigious program. The initiative offers outstanding lectures by speakers who are respected scientific leaders in their disciplines of petroleum geology. Anyone can attend the lectures which are hosted by AAPG affiliated geological societies or university departments.
Last month Dr. Jeroen Kenter visited the Middle East to present two exciting talks: “Carbonate Petrophysical Rock Typing Road Map: Flexible and Fully Integrating Geological Attributes, Petrophysical Properties and Dynamic Behavior” and "So Different, yet so Similar: Comparing and Contrasting Siliciclastic and Carbonate Slopes and Predicting Mineralogy and Texture ahead of Drill". Over the course of one week, Jeroen visited Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman and Qatar and delivered six lectures, all of which were extremely well attended by both industry professionals and students.

Biography
Jeroen Kenter currently is a consultant in carbonate reservoir characterization in Houston. He has a MSc from Amsterdam University and a PhD from Free University in The Netherlands, both in Geology.
Jeroen has worked with Chevron ETC on subsurface assets such as Tengiz, Karachaganak, Wafra, McElroy at the interface of R&D and technical deliveries for the business units. Subsequently, with Statoil ASA in Bergen, Norway, he worked on reservoir characterization and rock typing workflows and as subsurface team leader for Kharyaga Field in Russia testing new technologies. During his tenure with ConocoPhillips he held the post of Technical Team Leader Carbonates/UR in the Reservoirs Team at ConocoPhillips and worked on subsalt Angola Exploration and the Bakken/Three Forks Field in North Dakota.
Jeroen served as the IODP European Science Chair, mentored (8) PhD students, published more than 50 technical papers and holds one patent in petrophysical rock typing.
