AAPG “Exploring Mature Basins” GTW took place from 11-13 April 2016 at the ART Rotana, Bahrain.

The workshop was dedicated to advancing ideas and technologies to find undiscovered resources in mature basins as well as methodology for hydrocarbons yet-to-find estimation. 39 industry professionals from 5 countries and 10 companies attended the workshop. The 16 presentations which formed the technical program covered the following topics:

  • New Ideas and New Plays in Mature Basins
  • Adding Reserves by Finding By-Passed Pay
  • Understanding of Stratigraphic Architecture as a Key to Increasing Resources
  • Technological Advances in Exploring Mature Basins

Core provided by Bapco and Saudi Aramco was on display throughout the workshop. The core was carefully selected to compliment the technical program and participants had time each day to view and discuss the core samples.

Highlights of the workshop included an inaugural keynote speech delivered by Mohammad Faqira, Saudi Aramco, and a technical keynote speech by Sarah Haggas, IHS. All of the attendees also benefitted from informative panel and breakout discussions, held after each of session.

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Saudi Aramco as the Platinum Sponsor and BAPCO as the Field Visit & Dinner Sponsor.
