Student chapter member Hasan Tri Atmojo represented University Diponegoro Indonesia with a poster presentation at the recent Geo Bahrain 2016. He applied successfully for a grant towards his travel costs and writes below a note of thanks to our region council.

I would like to thank AAPG Asia Pacific council for assisting me with a grant towards my travel costs to present a poster at the Geo2016 in Bahrain, 7-11 March 2016. This program was very helpful for me as it helped enhance my networking and experience. Attending such international conferences is very important.

I presented my poster on “3D Modeling of Longshore Bar Deposit in The Modern Fluvial Dominated Delta, Case Study Wulan Delta, Central Java Province”. It was a wonderful experience for me, as I could share and discuss my research with professional people in the conference. Most of visitors were enthusiasiastic with my research and were curious about the longshore bar deposit, so I explained about depositional processes.  I would not have been able to have this experience if I did not have the support from the AAPG Asia Pacific council, and especially Ms Adrienne Pereira, who gave me guidance.

New exploration concepts will be born from strong basic geology. James Hutton said that “The Present is The Key to The Past” but now our actions are the key for the future.
