South Asian Geosciences Students Conference (SAGSC) 2016 is an event that gathers geosciences students around the world and it will be the second event of its kind, after SAGSC 2015 that held in India this year. SAGSC 2016 will be held over six days and will include two days post-conference seminars. The event will consist of Grand Ceremony, Conference, Exhibition, Competition, Geo Bowl, Lectures, Field Trip, and City Tour. With the theme “Empowering Geosciences, Energizing Tomorrow”, SAGSC 2016 has many purposes and benefits. As we know that, in the last few decades, energy and natural disaster shave been one of the biggest problems that geoscientists must face and solve. At this event, we can collect various ideas from many geosciences students throughout the world, especially in South Asian region and we hope that those problems will be solved in the next few decades. Besides, it facilitates geosciences students to speak up and share ideas with people that have same disciplines related to earth-science and also provide a suitable platform to geosciences students, geoscientists, related people, organization, and others to show and develop their capabilities.

SAGSC 2016 will be held in University Gadjah Mada, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This city has many scientific objects in narrow area: Merapi Volcano, structural region of Sewu Mountain or Kulonprogo, karst area of Gunungkidul, beautiful shores, desert, and more. Yogyakarta has a very dense classical Javanese atmosphere because of the existence of a kingdom (Kraton Yogyakarta) that will continue to preserve the Classical Javanese Culture. Yogyakarta has many interesting tourism objects and also many traditional cuisines such as Malioboro, Candi Prambanan (Prambanan Temple), Wonosari Beaches, Merapi Volcano, Gudeg, Bakpia, Wedang Ronde and many more. So, see you in Yogyakarta!
