On 23 May 2016, AAPG Universitas Padjadjaran Student Chapter had the honor to conduct a Studium Generale given by Dr. Allagu Balaguru, Senior. Regional Geologist from Shell. The activity began at 1.00 pm with welcome addresses by Mr. Yoga Andriana as Vice Dean, Faculty of Geological Engineering.

The first session of Studium Generale featured Dr. Balaguru's research in North Borneo.  His talk featured the introduction of tectonic and stratigraphic framework and stratigraphic framework in the research location of North Borneo.  He also spoke about tectonic evolution during geological time scale event and also how sedimentation works.

In the second session, Dr. Balaguru spoke about his experiences in the oil and gas industry, how he achieved what he has now. He also shared about recent and future career opportunities in the oil and gas industry.  This was followed by a question and answer session which highlighted participants' interest in his research and experiences.

Dr. Allagu Balaguru was presented with a memento from Ismail Halim, president of the AAPG student chapter (2016) and this was followed by a photo session. The students found it such a wonderful opportunity having Dr. Allagu Balaguru in Universitas Padjadjaran.
