Associate Professor Bruce Ainsworth from the Australian School of Petroleum, University of Adelaide was this year's AAPG Regional Distinguished Lecturer. His talk focussed on the prediction of reservoir compartmentalization in marginal marine deposits. The trip took in nine cities in total starting in Perth in mid August and finishing in his home city of Adelaide in early September. He also visited Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Port Moresby, Auckland, New Plymouth and Sydney.

Whilst in Port Moresby, Bruce also had the honour of representing PESA in a handover ceremony for a new field vehicle for the Earth Sciences Division at the University of Papua New Guinea. The vehicle was provided by kind donations from Exxon, Oil Search, PESA and SPE.

Bruce would like to thank the AAPG for sponsoring the tour and also PESA for co-funding the Australian leg of the trip. He is also very grateful to all those AAPG and PESA members who took time out of there busy schedules to host him in their home towns, for the challenging post-lecture questions and the long lasting memories only a tour such as this can generate.
