The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) currently possesses nearly 300 student chapters across the globe. Among all of these student chapters, the SEG – University Gadjah Mada (UGM) Student Chapter was recently judged the Best Student Chapter in the World 2014 at the Student Leadership Symposium in Denver, Colorado, on 29 October 2014.  They were awarded a USD 5,000 grant.

“The best student chapter was assessed based on the activities that they report annually where they have to demonstrate innovative programs such as community service, mentoring program, and yearly signature events in the university”, as proudly stated by Nur Wahyu Maulaningsih, President of University Gadjah Mada SEG Student Chapter.

The main objective of the SEG Student Chapter Rankings is to empower SEG Student Chapters to join and lead projects that will address issues, challenges, and opportunities related to SEG’s mission of promoting science of geophysics.

Congratulations, UGM!
