A third candidate has joined via petition the slate of candidates for AAPG president-elect for 2006-07.

Willard R. "Will" Green, an independent/consultant with Green Energy Resources in Midland, Texas, submitted a petition of 50 or more signatures of Active members to enter the race.

AAPG Bylaws clearly state the methods by which candidates may appear on the ballot and allow petitions for non-nominated candidates to be delivered to headquarters for validation prior to Oct. 15.

AAPG Advisory Council and Executive Committee-nominated candidates for president-elect on the ballot are:

• G. Warfield "Skip" Hobbs, Ammonite Resources, New Canaan, Conn.
• Peter M. Lloyd, retired, formerly with Schlumberger, teaching for Heriot-Watt University, Falicon, France.

Green's petition marks the fourth time -- in the last three ballot seasons and in the 88-year history of AAPG -- that a candidate has entered a race for international office by way of petition. The first was for 2003-04 office, and two petition candidates were on the ballot for 2004-05 Executive Committee seats

The Executive Committee is the governing body elected Association-wide to represent the members, plus the chairman of the House of Delegates, chosen by the delegates elected locally to represent the membership.

The Advisory Council, consisting of 20 people, includes elected members from AAPG's U.S. Sections and international Regions; the elected officers of each Division; the immediate past-president; two former presidents; and the past-chairman of the House of Delegates.

John C. Lorenz, Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, N.M.

Treasurer

Randi S. Martinsen, University of Wyoming, Laramie, Wyo.

William A. Morgan, ConocoPhillips, Houston.

The president-elect winner will serve as AAPG president in 2007-08. The vice president will serve for the 2006-07 term and the treasurer will serve for 2006-08.
