new fund has been established by the AAPG Foundation to honor the
late Paul McDaniel, a geologist who was known for his entrepreneurial
skills and vision in the development of digital representation of
geological and geophysical data.
who was the president of Masera Corp., died April 19 in Tulsa following
a long illness.
his career with the Ohio Oil Co. (Marathon Oil) in 1952, where he
worked in the Williston, Denver and Raton basins and the Hugoton
embayment. In 1961 he joined Marathon's Denver Research Center as
a liaison/coordinator between operations and research.
later he formed Erico to study the North Sea's Danian chalk. That
venture led to creation of Erico Data Services, which served as
an outlet for distribution of UK well data. In 1985 he formed Masera
fund has been established through an endowment within the Digital
Products Fund. Once the endowment is fully funded it will provide
an annual contribution to Oklahoma State University.
Products Fund supports the development of electronic publications,
including maps and databases.
