International Roundup:

A quick comment on the AAPG
International Conference in Barcelona, Spain, to be held Sept.
21-24: The history of the organization of this meeting is phenomenal.
Barcelona was selected for the international meeting
less than 18 months ago, but spurred by the fine leadership of general
chairman Jordi Ferrer, the committee responded with energy, detailed
planning and a sense of commitment that has produced a superb technical
program.
Attending the meeting is a bargain compared to many
industry conferences. Consider this impressive array that will be
offered:
- 500+ technical presentations.
- Five concurrent sessions.
- 100 posters per day.
- Nine short courses.
- 13 field trips.
- Two workshops.
- Three exhibit areas.
Barcelona is a unique, world-class city presenting
a backdrop for an excellent technical program.
Please note the following important dates and information:
- Aug. 15 -- Preregistration deadline.
- Sept. 20-21 -- New dates for short course
number 9, "Practical Salt Tectonics."
- Sept. 21 -- New instructors for short
course number 3, "Microbial Reef Characterization and Modeling:
Reservoir Detection and Development."
- Sept. 21-23 -- As a convenience this
year, pre-purchased lunches will be available at the conference
center. Purchase lunch tickets on the Hotel Services and Booking
Form.
- Sept. 22 -- All-Conference Luncheon,
featuring John Gibson, Halliburton Energy Services Group president
and CEO. Purchase your ticket when you register!
Remember, hotel rooms are extremely limited, so act
now. We are looking forward to welcoming you there next month.
