Figure 10 -- Seismic amplitude (top) and illumination amplitude (bottom).
High seismic amplitude can result from either high reflection coefficient or
from focusing of energy. The illumination amplitude surface reveals areas
of high illumination during seismic acquisition. The correlation between the
two surfaces will produce an amplitude surface that is crucial for correct
well placement.
