It's deadline time for Denver abstracts.
Oral and poster abstracts submitted by e-mail, hard copy and diskettes are due at AAPG headquarters Oct. 18. For online submittal, the deadline is Oct. 25.
The 2001 AAPG annual meeting will be held June 3-6 in Denver.
AAPG, its divisions, and SEPM are developing what they intend to be a "dynamic program" built around the theme, "2001: An Energy Odyssey."
Special sessions will deal with the evolution of concepts and technologies during the past century, as well as energy industry challenges of this new century.
The technical program will be built around eight general themes:
- Business, Opportunity and Vision.
- Global Environmental.
- Technology.
- Gas.
- Petroleum Issues.
- Depositional Systems and Sequence Stratigraphy.
- Reservoir Geology and Characterization.
- Structure and Tectonics.
As in past years, speakers will have 20 minutes for their oral presentations, but this year will have the option of using one of two projection formats: either the traditional 35 mm slide approach, or electronic projection (PowerPoint).
Speakers who plan to use electronic projection will be required to provide their own presentation on a ZIP disk, CD-ROM, etc., which will be loaded on a central computer and then forwarded to the session hall. Speakers will have access to one screen and a pointer.
Authors will not be required to give formal presentations at set times. Authors will be asked to be present in their booths, however, a minimum two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon.
A new venture for an AAPG annual meeting will be a 2 1/2-day expanded poster booth session, which will be entirely computer projection-based with all contributions in Portable Document Format (PDF). In it, authors will be 30-minute slots and will be expected to be in attendance at an adjacent discussion arena during their morning and/or afternoon theme.
Remember, there are several ways to submit your abstract: online (via the AAPG Web site); e-mail; diskette; traidtional mail.
Faxes will not be accepted.
Abstracts are limited to 250 words – and remember the deadlines:
- For e-mail, hard copy and diskettes, the deadline is Oct. 18.
- For online submittal, the deadline is Oct. 25.
