Calculations about global warming have been conducted for the past 100 years, and modern models make calculations for millions of points all over the planet. However, these models don't take into account many factors key to climate change -- such elements as clouds, rain, surface water balance, oceans and the cryosphere. In addition, the models are biologically dead and they have flux adjustments. "Models are like sausage, you really love them until you know what's in them," Balling said. "While the temperature models can be critiqued, there is definitive evidence that temperatures have increased globally in the last century and we should work to understand the forces at work."
