Stratigraphy Concept Morphing

Mosaic of shallow (approximately 50-90 meters subsea) time slices compiled from three 3-D seismic surveys offshore northwest Java. This image illustrates a Late Pleistocene incised valley system flowing southward. Note that small tributary incised valleys can be observed lateral to the principal trunk valley. The interfluves, into which these tributary valleys are incised, are characterized by extensive unincised alluvial systems, expressed as high-sinuosity meandering channels.
