The Asociación de Geólogos y Geofísicos Españoles del Petróleo (AGGEP) celebrated its 25th anniversary on Thursday, 26 October with a special meeting at Hotel Foxa (calle Agustín de Foxa, 32), Madrid.
The program featured presentations and speeches from senior management of oil companies active in Madrid including José María Egea (Director General de Gestión del Gas, Gas Natural), Fernando Maravall (Director General de E&P, Gas Natural y Gestión Corporativa, CEPSA), and Nemesio Fernández Cuesta (Director General de Repsol YPF). The meeting was attended by more than 60 members and guests.
In celebration of this silver anniversary, AGGEP has published a compilation of selected technical articles by its members. The book is available in paper and digital formats by contacting the association’s president Wenceslao Martinez del Olmo at wmartinezo@repsolypf.com.

Association of Petroleum Technicians and Professionals (AFTP France) The current president of the Exploration/ Reservoir section of the society is Isabelle Le Nir. For section activities go to www.aftp.net. An English version is currently under construction.
Austrian Geological Society The current president is Wolfgang Nachtmann. Information about speakers and meetings are announced when they become available. This information can be viewed the website (www.geol-ges.at ) which is in both German and English; however the German version is more informative than the English version. They do intend to improve the English version in the future.

Royal Geological and Mining Society of the Netherlands – The LMGMG is an AAPG affiliated society and has an active petroleum geological section (Petroleum Geologische Kring). Every third Wednesday of the month a meeting is held in the KIvI building, Prinsessegracht 23 in The Hague. Drinks are served from 17:00 to 18:00 during the social hour preceding the scientific meeting beginning at 18:00 hrs. Visiting guests from affiliated societies are welcome. Swiss Association of Petroleum Geologist and Engineers The 2007 Annual Convention will be held from June 23-25 in Ortisei (Val Gardena, Italy) with the Geology of the classical area of the Dolomites as the main theme. A pre-excursion was held at the end of September to determine the most attractive route.
The excursion will be guided by Prof. Wolfgang Schlager, Amsterdam, who from his worldwide carbonate experience will cover the sedimentology and sequence stratigraphy of the area, together with Prof. Carlo Doglioni, Rome an expert in tectonics and the interplay between tectonics and deposition in the Dolomites and Prof. Daniel Bernoulli, Basel who contributes his rich knowledge of the sedimentology and the regional geology of the southern Alps.
The lectures session on the first day will primarily be devoted to the Geology of the Dolomites. Invitations to members will go out in late February 2007 and the program will also be posted on our web site (www.vsp-asp.ch).
Apart from the scientific content the Convention of the ASP provides a platform for informal networking between professionals from the Industry and Academia, both Swiss and international (one third of our membership is non Swiss). We welcome thus students to participate (students pay half of the membership fee and also only half of the convention fee).
ASP is now on the list for the European tour of AAPG distinguished lectures and we will post the program on our web site as soon as it is known. The lectures will be held initially in Geneva.
