Meet the Members
This quarter’s member profile is on Sigrunn Johnsen.
Sigrunn won the Distinguished Member of the House of Delegates award in 2005. Above is a picture of her receiving the award from Pat Gratton, the then chairman of the House of Delegates.
We are very honored to have her as part of our region because she has been instrumental in making the European Region the most active of all the regions. In addition, she along with Robert Johannessen, with Elf in Stavanger, established the Norwegian Association of Petroleum Geologists (NAPG) in 1992. The NAPG became an associated society of AAPG in 1995.
Sigrunn began her career with Amoco Norway Oil Co. She went on to work with Amoco European and West Africa, DEMINEX Norge AS, and currently is with RWE Dea Norge AS, in Oslo as a Senior Geologist.
The following is her AAPG experience:
- 1983 - Became Active member
- 1992 - Established NAPG
- 1994 - represented NAPG House of Delegate
- 1996 - President of NAPG
- 1997 - Member of Steering Committee for AAPG Regional International Conference, St. Petersburg, Russia, July 2001
- 1997 - Started process of setting up 2003 AAPG International Conference in Oslo, Norway
- 1997 - Became General Chair for the 2003 conference in Oslo and established Steering Committee. Participated in discussions regarding co-operation with EAGE in Europe and USA.
- 1999 - House of Delegates (HOD) Nominating Committee
- 1999 - European Region Nominating Committee
- 2000-02 - member of HOD Honors and Awards Committee
- 2003-05 - Member of AAPG Honor and Awards Committee
- 2005-06 - Chair of Resolution Committee
- 2003-05 - President AAPG European Region
- 2005-07 - Past President AAPG European Region
