- SPE/AAPG Joint Workshop: LWD Sonic
Hyatt Hill Country Resort, San Antonio, TX
Operators drilling in uncertain environments, such as deep water, can receive assistance from a variety of emerging technologies. Realtime improved measurements of Logging While Drilling (LWD) sonic technology embedded with improved drill pipe telemetry increase the quantity and speed of downhole data measurement, providing a potential replacement for wireline applications.
This two day SPE/AAPG joint workshop will cross traditional borders, bringing together drilling engineers, petro-physicists, geophysicists, and geologists to explore sonic data collection and usage. Discussions will center on hardware development, measurement physics, process algorithms, and the application potential of sonic data collection tools.

- SPE/AAPG/SEG Joint Workshop: 4-D Seismic
San Luis Resort, Galveston, TX
With applications ranging from reservoir monitoring and management to history matching and infill decision making, 4D technologies are gaining wider use throughout the oil and gas industry. Despite increased adoption, these technologies still face challenges related to effective application.
This SPE/AAPG/SEG joint workshop will explore 4D applications for reservoir monitoring, model updating, and management through technical presentations including case studies. Experts will address quantitative and qualitative methods and workflows available for integrating 4D seismic and flow models. Other topics will include:
- Resolution Issues
- Seismic and Flow Scale Reconciliation
- 4D Seismic Integration with Permanent Pressure and Flow Sensors
- Alternate Time-Lapse Technologies
- Needed Improvements on Reservoir Characterization and 4-D Management
