Materials for Visiting Geoscientists

Provided below are the forms and information needed for a VGP visit. This is to serve as a last minute resource for VGP materials. It is preferred that AAPG mail the needed forms along with additional information to a Visiting Geoscientist, but with last minute visits and many international visits this is not always possible.

Forms and information will be added to this materials site and taken away as events change.

New Resource

Geology and Geophysics Applied to Industry: An Introduction to the Hunt For Oil for Geoscientists not within Industry

Acknowledgement and Appreciation: Most of the material in this short course is courtesy of ExxonMobil and the original material was compiled by Fred W. Schroeder. Thank you.

Materials provide herein was designed for an AAPG-VGP short course. The intended audience is upper class undergraduate students. Much of the material is basic and is intended for students who do not have much prior knowledge of Petroleum Geology and/or Exploration Seismology.

There are 17 units that can be used to build an agenda "cafeteria-style" based on the needs of the department and the instructor's experience. Most units consist of a lecture (20 to 40 minutes) and one or more hands-on, paper-based exercises. Lectures have "notes" pages with speaking points and exercises have a "READ ME" file with recommendations on running each exercise. Several agendas are provided to the right.

Presented by Bob Shoup on a visit to Khon Kaen University. A great resource admonishing the audience to "Take Reponsibility: It is your career. It is your responsibility."

The most important form is the evaluation form. There are two evaluation forms: one for the University to fill out and return to AAPG and one for the VG to complete and return.
