Visiting Geoscientist Program
The AAPG Foundation Visiting Geoscientist Program (VGP) has provided campus visits by active and experienced geoscientists for over 30 years. The program is going strong today; professional geoscientists are sharing their experiences and career insights with students throughout the US, Canada, and more than 30 other countries worldwide.
Students at all levels respond enthusiastically to Visiting Geoscientists for first hand knowledge of career opportunities, how to prepare for them, and what to expect in terms of salary and benefits, work locations, and professional development. This is particularly important in the face of sharply increased demand for geologists and geophysicists and a wide range of career choices now available.
VGP visits are easy to arrange. URL http://www.aapg.org/education/vgp/request.cfm A typical visit lasts anywhere from 1/2 day to a full day, and it may include a technical talk, a review of geoscience careers, and informal discussions with students and faculty. Some very popular short courses are also offered. See the other tabs on the VGP homepage for details along with a listing of VGP Geoscientists and titles of available technical talks.
Contact Mike Mlynek , AAPG Coordinator of Student Affairs, if you have any questions about the Visiting Geoscientist Program. We look forward to arranging your next VGP visit.
