Public Courses -- Short courses open to public enrollment. Public schools are scheduled and advertised and anyone may attend.

In-House Course -- Short courses held for the benefit of a private organization. There are two primary reasons for hosting an In-House Course:

  1. economy, where a Company wants to enroll multiple students such that it is cheaper to "buy the course" than to pay open-market tuition prices; or
  2. privacy, where the host Company asks the course instructors to use proprietary data or to facilitate an internal discussion of a corporate asset.

The venue is optional, in-house courses can be held anywhere at the invitation of the host company; only the enrollment is restricted.

COMPARE: Public vs. In-House

Mini-College -- An AAPG-hosted cluster of short courses for the purpose of offering multiple learning opportunities in the same venue. Typically a student will register for more than one short course. This will minimize travel expense and time away from the office and because the same speakers can lecture to more than one class group (on alternate days) AAPG achieves an economy or is able to offer privacy, depending on the Company's requirements. Mini-Colleges are held in key cities like Houston, London, or Geneva.

Partner Courses -- These are special short courses or mini-colleges to which only students enrolled by Training Partner companies are invited to attend. Such courses frequently have training prerequisites so that the students can begin at a "higher level" and the speaker can facilitate a more advanced discussion. Partner Courses also offer a terrific opportunit to network with professional staff from similar companies.

Interactive Online Learning (IOL) -- AAPG's Internet-based modules are a part of every Training Partner program and frequenly offer the prerequisite basis for Partner Courses. These stand-alone courses are terrific opportunities for self-paced learning and our online school is open when you need us to be. LEARN MORE ABOUT IOL
