Who Should Attend
The class is most appropriate for technicians and professionals working on modeling resource reservoirs, in particular; geomodelers, geoscientists, and petroleum engineers.
Upon completion of this course, participants will have learned:

Petroleum systems analysis, commonly referred to as basin modeling, is most commonly applied at a regional scale to better understand the generation, migration and alteration of petroleum fluids. The purpose is generally to provide justification for exploratory drilling and prospect identification. With current expanding interest in shale resource plays, petroleum systems analysis has become increasingly more important in assessing the viability and strategic development these potentially prolific resources not only at the basin scale, but also at the local reservoir scale. The distribution of gas, liquid-rich hydrocarbons, their level of maturity, pressure, and temperature through time coupled with the petrophysical and mechanical properties to identify sweet-spots in the reservoir today, is the focus of this class. Attendees will be provided with a basic review of petroleum systems and earth modeling principles, along with the methods and workflows to apply static fluid and maturation properties to deterministic or stochastic reservoir models.
