Conference Site and Dates:

Hyatt Regency Hotel, Baku, Azerbaijan -- May 17-21, 2004.

Conference Goals:

Were to encourage cross-disciplinary discussion between geoscientists and reservoir engineers and develop a greater understanding of sandstone distribution and reservoir architecture in lacustrine environments through global analogues, outcrop studies, core descriptions and core workshop.

Session Topics/Themes:

  • Paleogeography and Structural Settings
  • Controls/Processes
  • Stratigraphic Architecture
  • Recognition Criteria
  • Predictive Strategies

Format:

The conference venue was the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan, and the meeting comprised of three days of oral and poster presentations and a one-day field trip to study the details of lacustrine sandstone deposits in different localities near Baku. The poster sessions supported the oral presentations with regional and outcrop studies and holding a core workshop before the field trip.

This conference was informal to facilitate discussion. A wrap-up on key issues with a panel discussion occurred at the end of each session.
