American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)

Are you interested in becoming an active member on the EMD Executive Committee? We are looking for three volunteer positions for the upcoming 2016 - 17 year (beginning in July): secretary (two - year term), vice president (one - year term); and president-elect (three - year term). The president-elect is a one - year term, followed by one year as President; and a third year as past president after the election.

The EC has monthly teleconference meetings; one mid - year and one annual business meetings (held at the Annual Convention and Exhibition of the AAPG). The EC is an active driving force of EMD and consists of a dedicated set of professional geoscientists. We facilitate the authorship of a number of EMD publications, including mid- and annual reports on different commodities; AAPG books, memoirs and special studies; EMD articles in the AAPG Explorer, AAPG House of Delegates, peer-reviewed technical papers; and sponsor a wide variety of courses, field trips and oral and poster sessions at ACE, ICE and regional meetings of AAPG. EMD is a very active technical division of the AAPG, which has the following key functions:

  1. Serves as an integral part of a global professional community for geoscientists in developing so-called unconventional and alternative energy resources, whether they are hydrocarbon-based, carbon-based, nuclear-based, or geothermal-based.
  2. Serves as a recognized center of information for unconventional and alternative energy-related geoscience and technology within the AAPG.
  3. Serves as part of a global organization that effectively promotes the exchange of unconventional and alternative energy-related geoscientific information and the dissemination of associated research (from Government, University and Industry Sources).
  4. Serves as a center of respected professionals who encourage the appropriate standards for ethical and environmental practice in unconventional and alternative energy development in cooperation with AAPG¹s DPA and DEG.

We are looking for candidates to become a part of this dynamic group and part of our world-wide technical network of unconventional people. Please contact if you are interested or want to nominate someone to run as a candidate in these three important positions.
