2008 AAPG Annual Convention
The AAPG Unconventional Petroleum Systems Group (UPSG) was founded as part of the AAPG Research Committee’s effort to bring to the membership new advances and concepts that support exploration and production. The group meetings provide an informal setting that promotes discussion and interaction between academic and industry researchers on issues related to unconventional petroleum systems. For example, AAPG Bulletin, v. 86, no.11, 2002, focusing on unconventional petroleum systems, originated in the UPSG. We also encourage suggestions for research symposia and continuing education classes.
The UPSG group first met during the 1998 annual AAPG meeting in Salt Lake City. Subsequently, meetings have been held in conjunction with annual AAPG meetings. Topics for discussion are chosen by annual meeting attendees. Everyone interested in the broad area of unconventional petroleum systems are welcome to attend and are welcome to contribute discussions. Meetings are usually held on the Tuesday evening of the annual meeting.
Ben Law and John Curtis are currently planning the 2003 discussion meeting.
Please contact them if you are interested in participating in the meeting.
