To develop and implement Earth Sciences Week activities and program for AAPG, and to investigate becoming involved with Earth Day.
Coordinates with: Betsy Campen, Youth Education Activities Committee
The major task of this subcommittee is to identify and document examples of outstanding oil and gas exploration and development operations. These will be used to demonstrate sound and modern E&P practices to the public and the media. This subcommittee should also monitor where there are problems on which we can help focus other's attention. I envision this as a global program.
We need to identify great AAPG writers and speakers who easily communicate energy issues to the non-technical public, and provide them with the materials to communicate. Interaction with similar minded groups, such as the Energy Advocates, is encouraged to leverage energy and time.
Coordinates with: Philip Ryall
Develop materials that meet teachers needs for energy education materials. Will have to coordinate with many other groups both within and external to AAPG. This subcommittee is our link to the Youth Education Activities Committee.
