Enjoy the sights and sounds of Cartagena during an orientation tour — included in your guest registration — on Sunday, 8 September. The tour will provide you the opportunity to get an overall view of Cartagena. You will see areas that you might like to adventure in depth later during your visit. You will be able to familiarize yourself with the area for additional tours on your own.
Registered professionals and others may join you on this orientation tour for a registration fee of US $36.
Accessibility: This tour includes walking on steep inclines and uneven terrain in hot temperatures. Wearing a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and comfortable shoes is advisable.
The tour begins with a panoramic tour down the residential and touristic area of Bocagrande and Castillogrande, the historical walled center and the traditional neighborhood of Manga.
You will visit San Felipe de Barajas Castle, a magnificent fortress built above San Lazaro hill, designed to defend the city from attacks by enemies of the Spanish crown. The Castle was built in different stages and has seven defensive units and a series of intricate tunnels and underground galleries.
The Monasteries and La Popa Church, built in 1606, offer a beautiful panoramic view of the city. This monastery was built in the top of the only hill inside the city, and used to be called La Popa del Galeon or Convent of the Stern because of its amazing resemblance to the stern of a ship.
We continue to Las Bovedas, former dungeons that now house a variety of stores selling Colombian souvenirs, and we will then take a walk around the area before you return to the Cartagena Convention Center.
Date: Monday, 9 September
Fee: US $170
Includes: Air-conditioned coach, boat transportation, non-alcoholic fruit punch, lunch, Aquarium admission and a dance class.

Your journey begins on an air-conditioned coach to Marina Santa Cruz Pier. From there, you will enjoy a boat ride around the bay (50 minutes), passing by Baru Island arriving at the Rosario Islands Archipelago. This group of islands is formed by coralline banks and surrounded by crystalline waters.
A dance class awaits you with Caribbean and folklore rhythm. Following the dance class is a visit to the San Martin de Pajarales Aquarium. You may observe a variety of small fishes, sharks or a performance of dolphins. Without a doubt, this is a paradise— especially for those who appreciate the mystery of marine life.
