Friedemann Baur began his career with IES (now Schlumberger) in 2005 where he worked as a project geologist until 2007. At IES he conducted basin modeling studies in the UAE, Oman, Egypt, Bolivia, Argentina and the North Sea and worked on the first 3D TecLink project. In 2010, he received his PhD in petroleum geology from RWTH Aachen University (Germany), graduating summa cum laude. From 2010 to 2013 Friedemann was employed by BP as a geoscientist and petroleum systems analyst, primarily working on exploration and appraisal projects in the Caspian Sea and in Oman. He also gained well site experience and worked on the Shah Deniz well planning team. Since 2013 Friedemann works for Chevron as a Petroleum Systems Analyst in Exploration and New Ventures on global projects. Friedemann taught several courses extending from Petroleum Systems and Basin Modeling at the University of Cologne and RWTH Aachen University (IDEA League) to individual sessions at BP’s internal course for petroleum systems.
