After completing an undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies at Connecticut College, Cat ventured into geology with a Masters at the University of Wyoming. Initially petroleum was simply a thesis topic, but became a passion after an internship at BP working Sakhalin, Russia. Her first job in the industry was with Encana Oil and Gas in Denver where she worked in operations for the Wind River Team. With the environmental side of the industry under scrutiny, Cat transferred to the environmental team to assist with geochemistry projects to mitigate incorrect fears of pollution caused by hydraulic fracturing. Cat moved onto Robert L. Bayless, Producer, a small private company in Denver three years ago as an exploration geologist working the Rockies and Australia. She is involved with RMAG and AAPG and will be the Rocky Mountain Section president in 2016. She is excited about the opportunity to share her experiences and enthusiasm for the industry with students!
