'Jumoke' Akinpelu is a production geoscientist working at ExxonMobil Nigeria Upstream Companies production division. Most of her career has focused on seismic mapping, including 4D seismic data, base reservoir surveillance, management for volumes uplift, subsurface characterization to define prospects and drillwell opportunities generation in clastics. Since joining ExxonMobil in 2006, Akinpelu has worked various shallow and deepwater fields and has contributed to multiple exploration and production projects in Nigeria, Angola and Houston, and is currently the technical team lead for Nigeria JV projects, geoscience division for Mobil Producing Nigeria.

Akinpelu received her bachelor’s from Obafemi Awolowo University and her master’s from the University of Manchester. She is two-time recipient of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists conference (NAPE) best paper award. She was also the key speaker at NAPE’s monthly technical meeting in January 2017, where she discussed recent innovations in sand control technologies.

Akinpelu served as vice president of ExxonMobil Women Interest Network (WIN), a program to nurture the enthusiasm of engineering and geoscience to young females, and was an industry mentor to University of Lagos geology students for the AAPG Regional IBA competition in 2013. She also conducted a three-day, campus-based University Assistance Program lecture series at Awolowo University.
