Dr. Ione Taylor is a member of the Queen’s University, Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering, Earth and Energy Resources Leadership Professional Master’s Program in Ontario. Dr. Taylor’s areas of professional focus include petroleum geology, the application of physical science, integrated with economics, to inform decision-making for land and natural resource development, as well as designing and applying models of innovative leadership in the energy and mineral sectors. She started her career as a geologist working on hydrothermal mineralization associated with volcanism in the Basin and Range province in western US. She then joined the petroleum industry working on US domestic and international hydrocarbon exploration. For the next 15 years she held many technical positions, followed by management positions, including R&D Director of Worldwide Technology Applications and Vice President of Overseas Exploration for Amoco Production Company and British Petroleum. She then served as a Senior Executive and Associate Director for Energy and Mineral Resources and Environmental Health at the US Geological Survey. Ione has led many projects on energy and mineral resource security for the US, natural resource economics, interdisciplinary science, and application of satellite remote sensing for understanding land use. She has a BS in Chemistry and Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Geology/Geochemistry. She is a graduate of Thunderbird School of Global Management, and holds an Executive Certificate in Strategy and Innovation from Sloan School of Management at MIT.
