David Thul is a petroleum geologist and geochemist with experience in unconventional petroleum exploration across North America and petroleum industry experience in 50 basins in 15 countries.  He has worked with a range of clients from two-man exploration and production companies to some of the largest unconventional petroleum producers in the United States.  David has a B.A. in Geology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a M.S. in Geology from the Colorado School of Mines.  At CU, his focus was on numerical modeling of earth systems.  At CSM, David's thesis research was on the maturity of the Niobrara Formation in the Denver Basin.  David is the Chief Geochemist and Manager of Petroleum Systems and Geochemistry for the Energy & Geoscience Institute at the University of Utah, and also in the process of completing his PhD at Colorado School of Mines.
