Anthony Salem has been a Production Geologist with Shell Exploration and Production Company based in Houston, Texas.  His present role is Development Team Lead for the Magnolia Asset (Haynesville Shale), which he has held since the start of 2014. Previous roles include Lead Development Geologist Haynesville (2013), Operations Geologist Haynesville (2011-13), Operations Geologist Perdido Great White WM12 sand (Upper Wilcox, Deepwater Gulf of Mexico, 2009-11).  In 2015, he will be transitioning to a new position as a Structural Geologist with Shell International Exploration and Production, which will be a research position, also based in Houston. Tony joined Shell after graduating from the University of New Mexico with a PhD in Earth & Planetary Sciences in 2009, specializing in Structural Geology and Tectonics. His dissertation topic was Mesozoic Tectonics of the Maria Fold Thrust Belt and McCoy Basin: An examination of polyphase deformation and synorogenic response. While at UNM, he was a teaching assistant and has done seasonal contract work for the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources (2005, 2006). Additionally, he served as National Science Foundation GK-12 Fellow (2006-08), which promotes the teaching of STEM disciplines to students in grades 6-8, and he worked with teachers at Belen Middle School. Tony also holds an MS in Geological Sciences (2005) and a BS in Marketing (1999) from Arizona State University.
