Qinmin Kevin Luo was educated at China University of Petroleum in Qingdao, where he earned his bachelor of geology and masters of petroleum geology. Funded by the Chinese ministry of education Luo led a student team to investigate sedimentary mechanisms and coast evaluation of Tangdao Bay, Qingdao. He worked with Chinese national oil companies to conduct shale barrier characterization in Subei Basin as well as research on normal faults and volcanic reservoirs in Junggar Basin. Upon graduation, he joined Chevron as an earth scientist and has been focusing on horizontal infill well planning and execution as well as heavy oil development in fluvial reservoirs, Bohai Bay Basin.
