Edith Allison specializes in communicating science and policy issues of petroleum exploration and production technology and its environmental impacts to professionals and decision makers. She is the senior author of the “Petroleum and the Environment,” a 2018 web-hosted publication of the American Geosciences Institute.

For many years she worked in unconventional oil and gas recovery, including CO2 enhanced oil recovery and methane hydrates, in industry and the U.S. Energy Department research programs.

From 2012 through 2016 she served as director of AAPG’s Geoscience and Energy Office (GEO-DC), where she provided scientific information and policy analysis to Washington, D.C., decision makers and AAPG members.
