Granite Wash and Pennsylvanian Sand Forum

25 September 2014
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States

This forum is an intensive one-day review by experts of the latest findings regarding the productive extent and producibility in the Granite Wash of Oklahoma and Texas, along with Pennsylvanian sand-producing horizons.

You will learn

The Granite Wash in the Anadarko Basin of Oklahoma and Texas is a very complicated play, with extreme variability in the lithology, fluids, and trapping mechanisms.

This is a time of change in the Granite Wash, and many companies are buying and/or selling assets in the Granite Wash in the Anadarko Basin of Texas and Oklahoma.  So, we plan to focus on what you need to know to make good decisions, in exploring for, drilling, completions, and production of the Granite Wash.

We will cover
  • Stratigraphic frameworks and depositional patterns
  • Reservoir fluids and fluid behaviors
  • Variability and connectivity of reservoirs
  • Seismic interpretation
  • Petrophysics
  • Horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing in the Granite Wash
  • Integration of petrophysics, geomechanics, geochemistry, and 3D seismic
  • Techniques for identifying sweet spots
  • Fluid behaviors and flow
  • New reservoirs / step-outs
  • Optimizing horizontal drilling: well spacing
  • Integrating geology and geophysics to optimize completion designs and stimulation
  • Proppant behavior given reservoir conditions
  • Identifying locations with high-yield reservoirs and/or locations
  • Stacked pays and pad-drilling in the Granite Wash
Preliminary Agenda
  • Desmoinesian Granite Wash Facies Architecture, Western Oklahoma and Texas Panhandle, Dennis Kerr, Tulsa University
  • Economic Granite Wash:  Must-Know Factors / Best Approaches for Prospecting for and Developing the Reservoir, John Mitchell, Fall River Exploration
  • Heat Flow and Thermal History of the Anadarko Basin, Oklahoma, Zach Frone, SMU
  • Using Data Mining and Powerful, Integrative Analytical Techniques for Identifying Productive Trends and Sweet Spots in Pennsylvanian Sands and the Granite Wash, Anadarko Basin, Murray Roth, DrillingInfo
  • Evolution of Horizontal Well Hydraulic Fracturing in the Granite Wash, Barry Dean, Schlumberger
  • Granite Wash Play Overview, Anadarko Basin: Stratigraphic Framework and Controls on Pennsylvanian Granite Wash Production, Anadarko Basin, Texas and Oklahoma, Ed LoCricchio, Apache
