Developed in 1941, the Distinguished Lecturer Tour continues to be AAPG’s oldest and most prestigious program. The initiative offers outstanding lectures by speakers who are respected scientific leaders in their disciplines of petroleum geology. Anyone can attend the lectures which are hosted by AAPG affiliated geological societies or university departments.

The AAPG Distinguished Lecturers, as the name suggests, represent a program that offers the best and brightest of today’s geoscientists, practitioners and big thinkers who are brought together with the next generation of leaders – geology students and young professionals, as well, as seasoned professionals who are members of Geological Organizations by way of a special lecture series presented throughout the world.

It has a new name, a new energy and a new lineup of experts, all primed to spread geoscience knowledge around the world. “It” is AAPG’s newly named Global Distinguished Lecture Program – emphasis on the “global” – which dates back to 1941 but continues to be the Association’s flagship initiative for offering the latest in geologic science to AAPG affiliated geological societies and universities.
