Hermanus is nestled between mountains and the sea and offers some of the best shore-based whale watching opportunities in the world. August to November is usually the best time to see the Southern Right Whale in our waters. Hermanus’ Walker Bay is an ideal place for whale watching. These mammals, which often come as close to 50 m from the shore, are given to displays of breaching, lobtailing, spyhopping and courtship rituals. Old Harbour Museum gives visitors an insight into the history of the village. There is a telescope above the Old Harbour for visitors to see the giant whales when they are far out in the bay. Harold Porter is a beautiful, secluded garden in the heart of the Cape Fynbos region and encompasses 10 hectares of cultivated fynbos garden and 190.5 hectares of pristine natural fynbos.
Please note that the Geological and Social Day Trips may be of interest to guests.
