As Chair of the Credentials Committee of the House of Delegates, I’d like to thank the delegates and alternates who attended the recent Pittsburgh ACE and represented their local geological societies at the annual HoD meeting. I hope that everyone enjoyed their visit to Pittsburgh. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the elected delegates who couldn’t attend the ACE and received approval for an appointed delegate prior to the meeting. This advance effort greatly facilitates the work of the Credentials Committee, whose role is to check in voting members of the HoD and ensure that delegates and alternates are members in good standing of AAPG and their local societies.
The HoD meeting was a great success, with a total of 177 delegates out of a possible 220 (80%) seated, with delegates representing all AAPG Sections and Regions.
The most enjoyable part of serving on this committee was the opportunity to greet the delegates as they checked in, seeing friends and colleagues, and meeting new folks.
I would like to thank my fellow committee members, who graciously accepted the call to stand for HoD office and thereby agree to serve as members of the Credentials Committee. Paul Britt, Mark Rainer, David Dolph, and Dan Billman were of great help during the check-in process and made the Chair role a bit more relaxed.
Congratulations to both David and Dan as they begin their terms as Chair-Elect and Secretary/Editor of the HoD. Thanks also go out to Regina Gill, the AAPG staff liaison to the HoD. Regina ensured our committee received all delegate materials and information in a timely manner, and that we had the rules and procedures and the binders of approved delegates and alternates at the ACE ahead of the meeting. It truly was a pleasure to serve on this committee, and I thank the HoD leadership for the opportunity.
